Website Progress

I think we have finally finished the website and I think it looks so professional. When we chose to do this anciallary product I was a bit nervous because I did not think I would be able to use it or understand it. However it turns out it was really easy to use and I have loved working on the website. Ive learn't how to make links, add galleries, different gadgets, upload pictures and videos amongst other things.

This has definitely been my favourite task and I think that is because i surprised myself at how well I could use and pick up the different skills for the website. I think the website connotes and works very well and is effective as one of our ancillary tasks.

Here are some images from the website:

Website

I think the website has really taken shape and I like what we have done with it. We have worked on different pages and have related them all to appeal to the target audience. We have used a lot of imagery throughout the website so that the fans can see the band as a band and as individuals. We have given the boys there own twitter pages, we have a gallery, we have an interactive comment box and we have lots of oppurtunities for the target audience to get involved with the band, buy from the store and buy tickets for the upcoming tour.
All we need now to do is link the final youtube video to the website and get our website live.

Editing Process

All is going well on the editing side. We've been working really hard and have got a schedule for each edit week so that we can fill in any free slots. I share a lot of free lessons with Jess so I have worked  a lot with her. We have also managed to overlap some free where we can all meet up and work on all the different tasks. Currently we have most of the video cut up and edited, the website and album cover are well underway and im sure we will finish all tasks pretty much by the end of this week!!

Editing

The process has began we don't thave that much time at all so we are splitting the jobs and changing round so that we get a go at everything. However as a group we are still checking with eachother if we like eachothers work. Today Jess and I worked on editing photos for the website and here is some of the shots that we edited.

This is just the start of the process so much still to do and literally no time!!

Album Cover Research

I've decided that I realy need to start thinking about some ideas for the album cover, we want to be a really conventional, mainstream boyband therefore this is exactly what I have decided to study. Boybands are a lot about the look which is why the shots we get are going to be key to the success of selling this album cover and making it stand out.

When we did the photoshoot we got lots of different angles, positions, Ideas, outfits so that we are not limited in what we have and can use a variety of shot.  We need to have one key image however and the front cover pretty much has to be the boyband at probably a mid shot so that we sell them to the target audience.

Here are a selection of album covers that I have researched of boybands. I think the front cover is pretty clear from all the album covers I found that they all use a group image of the band which is iconic and will sell the band to a mainstream set target audience. The images all connote the band in an individual way and sell the genre, look and style of the band really easily. For our album cover we need a striking image of the whole band that will have a broad reach to a mainstream teenage girl audience primarily and to other secondary audiences. Therfore for the album cover front I want a group shot, in a set, striking position with eye contact to the camera and styled in order to promote the genre.

For the back over the majority of back covers for boybands albums were very plain with not much at all on them. However for out back cover this will not be the case. I want to have another image of the band and tracks down the side which i think would work well.

We are obviously going to have all the set icons such as title, barcode, copyright etc. Which will make the album cover obvious to the audience and as professional as possible.

Final Shoot Day

On Saturday we had our final shoot day and I think we have finally got all the shots we needed it was a really successful, fun day and we got it all done well under the time we thought we would. The day began at 10.00 when we arrived at the photographic house in stoke newington. The house was huge and inside it was amazing and perfect for the final shooting day.

We began downstairs on the basement level which was the more modern room. We took around 400 photos(!) of the band in different positions, sitting, standing, in front of different walls and we got a good selection of shots. We also took individual shots and we all helped eachother out to get the photos we wanted. I was happy with what we got and we also have a lot of selection for the tasks that we need them for. The only negative was that we couldnt make costume changes because it was impossible to have lots of sets of clothing for 5 members of the band.

We then took a break and the band changed into their suits it begin the filming process upstairs. We chose a different level which worked well for the rich look that we wanted. The lighting took a while to set up at first and as a group we went through what looked best. We then began shooting, I was able to shoot footage aswel as helping with the positioning of lights, the positioning of the band and what movement needed to be done. We worked really hard and got all the shots that we wanted.

Overall I really enjoyed the day, we got good footage and photos and the band and group worked well together. I found it harder working in a different location compared to the studio as we had to work out the lighting at each different place in the house. I am so happy with out whole production stage, it was hard work but im hoping after all the editing process we can produce a really good video, website and album cover.
